Wincanton Film Society was launched in September 2004, and since that date we have provided our members, friends, and the community with a season of 10 films each year. Our mandate is to bring quality domestic and international films to Wincanton and District. We have screened films from all over the world creating a richness of viewing for our members and friends. The Wincanton Film Society is indeed Wincanton’s very own Cinema.
We are based at The Performance Enhancement Centre at King Arthur’s Community
School, West Hill, Wincanton. This allows us to take full advantage of the spacious facilities, and the comfortable seating on risers. As people arrive (doors open at 7pm) for each screening we have a refreshment table, and a few tables with chairs, set out allowing our guests to relax in a café style atmosphere on the run up to the film (Film
starts at 7:45pm).
As we approach the start of our 8th season 2011/12 we have once again put together a quality programme (see programme page for film details) for our members and friends. We hope that you will agree, and join us in membership for this season. Please tell family and friends about this year’s films. Help us to promote WFS and keep this valuable community service strong and vibrant. Becoming a paid up member of WFS helps us to secure the future of the Society, and make provision for updating and replacing our equipment as and when needed.
Our films cost from £1.75 (paid up member) per film to £5 (non-members) on the door. Compared to the nearby multi-screen cinemas this represents amazing value for money. We operate a concession fee system.
